WordPress 2.6 now with Google Gears

Quite an interesting addition to the new version of WordPress (2.6), users are now able to speed WordPress on your local machine.

I have not had chance to activate it yet as I am on my work machine. I need it to perform the way a normal user would experience without Google Gears on their machine. Still I hope it improves my casual browsing experience at home.

I just wonder how long it will take for someone to exploit the new WordPress. Days? Hours? I bet it has already happened hasn’t it?

Wordpress and Meta Descriptions

I have just been wasting my morning by messing around with some Wordpress plugins. I have installed a bunch of them previously but never really got round to going through them set it all up properly.

I just installed the Platinum SEO Plugin and changed my meta description. Normally I am just bone idle and would leave it at that but I thought I would check to see if it was working properly so I viewed the page source and low and behold I had 3 bloody meta descriptions.

The first was from the header.php in my theme.

The second was from the Meta Tags plugin.

And the last was from the Platinum SEO Plugin.

This is clearly not going to be a shock to a regular WordPress user but it goes to show you shouldn’t be lazy and assume everything is working fine when you make a change to any of your settings.

I know it is not exactly a huge issue but how does Google actually treat multiple descriptions? Does it just look at the first?
